You drylanders would call it a sort of giant flatfish. The Mer use them for guarding duty, since they can remain quiet and difficult to see, their scales matching the color of the mud or sand of a flat bottom. They also can be trained for herding, including watching over unwary youngsters or visiting drylanders.

The off-breed culls make excellent banquet dishes.
