July2005 July2005July 2nd: A visit to Deer Island Open Space Preserve near Novato. It's an oak-and-grass covered hill in the midst of the North Bay wetlands. We hear summer crickets in the grass, see a fuzzy caterpillar, Acorn Woodpeckers and even a Great Horned Owl in the daytime! See Birds.
