UpperAdamant was founded as a bulwark city before the CircleOfSix was founded, defending the passage from the KestrelPeaks into the Barony of Rook? and the ThunderPeaks?. Its high walls remain a testament to the defensive nature of the city, although it has become more open to the lake since the establishment of the HighCourt.
There is a Lower Adamant, but that's a walled outpost on the southern pass in that hasn't really grown beyond a landscape feature shared between a few villages.

Comments, additions, subtractions, aggrandizements:
LowerAdamant? is a waypost to the thermal baths on the Winding Stair Trail descending from the pass. I found them quite soothing after much time jouncing about on the roads and being dehydrated by the winds.
