MonoAera

MonoAera are a kind of flying flatworm, about two arm's lengths on average. Their undersides are covered in rippling, feathery cilia, and they signal one another with colors and light. Normally they're harmless foragers, but sometimes they'll swarm a settlement or an airship and the HighGuard has to be called in to clear them away. They're attracted to LightningBottles, sadly.

Very common in the ThunderPeaks?, MonoAera are essential to detecting when lightning season comes around.

It was my misfortune to be caught on a ridge next to an updraft in swarming season. The MonoAera themselves were little more than a nuisance, as long as I kept away from exposure to being accidentally struck and overbalanced, but the StingingPuffs they were pursuing made me wish my master had not elected for an invigorating walk among the ridgetops that day. DoctorWintertop was not available, but his assistant was called upon for both of us for a remedy allowing the swelling to abate enough to allow us rest that night.
