This year DuchessFiredrake will host the Grand Summer.
While denizens of the deep are welcome, I, alas, must stay away.
I like my head too much dearies.
Send my regards.

With such a gap between Grand Summers, there's much time to anticipate the arrival of the exhibitors, and this increases the number of spectators. Each attending noble brings their own contingent of guards and thiefcatchers, and the host makes use of the HighGuard. The last GrandSummer was crawling with knights, this one should be no different. Full of shiny carapaces like a beetle colony.
Naturally I will be attending for the food, the people, and the culture. The military showings draw crowds, but the smaller displays hold the future, too. New crops, innovative spells, new ways to bring light to mines or the deeps, and frybread. I'll celebrate these things.

The decision to have the cruel Duchess host the events this Grand Summer is likely the combined result of wanting to avoid any repetition of the events of when KendelDung hosted the affair as well as some sort of placating gesture, considering the event happen to coincide with the tricentennial of MeridianBalance.

We are all looking forward to the ascension of the new LordHarmony as part of GrandSummer. Ordinarily it is clear who the outstanding candidate is, but unusually, there are several qualified wearers of the Cord. I do not have intimate knowledge of their service, but all are well spoken for.
