Queen Venther was a two-faced ruler of the Selkie from before the Rending. It is implied that she was in league with the Mer who formed the TyrantKnights and indeed started the entire awful series of events.

No one can say she didn't serve her people in the end. Using powerful sorcery, she held off dozens of the fell knights in the SodaDeeps while her people fled into the Zarine.

On VentherNight, it is customary to perform on that day a small prank (surprising someone, perhaps pulling away someone's chair at the last moment) and then later some small pleasantry (giving someone candy, or doing a chore without being asked).

How quickly history becomes parody.

It also is said Venther's body may be responsible for the strange magic that fills the SulcusGyrusCaves.

It's also very popular to bottle some of the water from the SodaDeeps and release it into an enclosed space to the intense chagrin of anyone unprepared. However it's a bit of a cliche, so if you wander around Selkie land with a bottle on VentherNight expect to be watched more carefully.

There's a few SelkieBraid about Queen Venther, some humorous, some rude but the most famous is a sorrowful ballad; One of her love with ThantarsZim?. Truth or fancy listening to it still brings a mixture of anger and tears to me to this day.
