They are reknowned for their bards and their storytellers, although the former is of less interest to the younger set, as evidenced by the few numbers who still practice the ancient SelkieBraid.

The Rending has certainly taught the Selkies suspicion, and that suspicion has made them masters of their own guile. The King's aids and protectors do not even name themselves for worry they will be removed from service, somehow. Selkies mix with others easily but do not trust easily, and for that I cannot blame them.
Half of the stories we tell ourselves are outright lies. Not out of maliciousness mind, but as tests to sharpen our wits against deception.
