NasheFitzagua came to the SelkieBraid after a varied, one might say checkered, career along the cool end of the JellicalCoast; a pearl fisher, a hunter after GallantIvory, and even, it is said, a delver in the SulcusGyrusCaves on the trench face above the AbyssalDeep.
A pleasant fellow, though I found him a bit too fond of pulling my tentacles just when I thought I had teased out the essence of one of his stories.

Did Nashe marry a Selkie while I was away?!? How did I miss this? Ele, where are my letters?!
Prior to Nashe marrying xir husband, the Selkie PhoqueVin, I thought I had xir figured out. Xie was propelled to the forefront of the FloatingSchools academia, surrounded by those rumors with no denial from VarixArchebelloch. It seemed like xie was keen on taking over for VusetBafflu after xir eventual retirement.
But now, I don't know. PhoqueVin is meant to be high up in the OrpheneClasp, and is the oldest son of KingProteus's younger sister. The Clasp is reportedly allied with the remnants of the SilentRevolution.
I can't help but look at Fitzagua's choices as calculating. Is xie trying to set xirself up for a chance to put a Phoecenni on the DeepCourt troika via political status as a Selkie national? Stranger machinations have come to fruit in the past. Only time will tell.

I have to wonder whether Pythia didn't have an extended conversation with an impostor pretending to be NasheFitzagua; I mean, the Phoecenni are Mer, not Selkie. But I don't know anything personally about the FloatingSchools, I've only been to the DeepCourt really. I have a sneaking suspicion that SOMEONE was actually pulling a grand one over on her. It's the sort of thing that KingProteus has the reputation for doing once in a while. He really is a slippery character.

Ahem. Probably got the name wrong. Someone is responsible for the concordance of the SelkieBraid, and PythiaTwentyThree probably talked to that someone, who is part of the FloatingSchools, and in her youth and enthusiasm, she has combined the stories of two estimable personages of undersea wisdom.
Or maybe she has taken a dare. It's the sort of thing that Pythia has the reputation for doing once an a while.
